Congratulations to our 2009 Citizen of The Year
Rotary Club of Temple Terrace
The Temple Terrace Rotary Club was chartered in 1987 and so has a long history in the city. Specifically in the last 5 years, club members have raised and awarded more than $25,000 in college scholarships for King HS students, scholarships for migrant farm workers earning HS diplomas through a program at USF, and to a wide variety of promising community ideas such as a multi-school student dictionary distribution project.
100% of club members participate in two annual interactive events for foster kids providing back-to-school clothes and supplies in a festival setting complete with games and food. CAIR Flight, a charity providing air transport for medical patients who cannot get to treatment centers was founded within the Temple Terrace Rotary and members drive 5-20 patients a month for cancer treatments or to Shriners hospital.
Last year, the club partnered with the City of Temple Terrace Parks & Recreation department to renovate Linwood Park, turning a run-down par-course into a neighborhood fitness park that allows families to exercise together. The park has once again become a destination for fitness training – for every level of athlete and all within walking distance from many homes.
Rotarians pledge to live by the Four Way Test – in everything they think, say or do:
- Is it the Truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build good will and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
All Citizen of the Year Award Recipients.
